There's a saying, "If it's Halloween, it's time for Saw", and it's true, the last few years I've gotten used to having a Saw movie release in the theaters around Halloween time. It will be strange when the first year goes by without one, whenever that year finally arrives. They've really been pumping them out.
So I recently purchased a five disc set of all the Director Cut Unrated versions of the first five films for $20.00 at Wal-Mart. I tried to find it through my source, but couldn't. So I got it at Wal-Mart.
For a lot of bloody movies that have come out the past decade, I haven't watched that many. I was disgusted with the two Hostel movies and didn't bother with a lot of others, but something about Saw intrigued me, so when the third movie was in the theaters, I rented the first two. Then when the third one came out on video, I rented it. Saw IV is the only one I got to see in the theater, but I watched Saw V as soon as it came out on DVD. I still haven't seen Saw VI yet, but plan on getting it on Blu-Ray soon.
For all the bloodiness of this movie franchise, I am highly impressed with the writers and the overall plot going on. It's very psychological and a movie franchise I keep thinking will mess up, but keeps leaving me wanting more. I've never seen a horror movie series be as consistent as this one has been.
I'm eagerly looking forward to when I can watch Saw VI. I got the five pack because I wanted to not only see all five of the other ones again before watching this latest installment, but I wanted to own them and had already gotten the first two, but now I found all five together, so that was cool.
What are your thoughts about this movie series?
