"Space, the final frontier......" With these words, Gene Roddenberry introduced America, and then the world, to his vision of a future where the planet Earth was unified and had joined other planets in a Federation of Planets that had a Starfleet of space going vessels that were sent out to "explore new worlds, seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before." The original series lasted three seasons with three spin-offs lasting seven seasons each, and one lasting only four. The recent film has reminded everyone of the strength of the original characters and has brought Roddenberry's vision back to the public as something to shoot for. Live long and prosper!
